Lovely to see all the beautiful blooms in your garden! I'm in central Scotland, so much wetter and cooler than you-this year the sweet peas were happy right through the summer and the butterflies loved the buddleia and lavender.

Wetter, indeed! 😀 Sweet peas are some of my favorite old-fashioned garden flowers 💖💜

So much beauty in your garden! I’m loving those irises! That’s something we have been able to grow as well since we’ve moved to the countryside in Wisconsin where the soil in our part is sand - maybe I just had them in the wrong place. The black eyed Susan’s and Lillie’s have been remarkable this year and still going with our warm fall too!

It took a couple of years to establish the iris for sure! For this species, you need to imitate the climate of the high elevation mountain meadows where they thrive. They like a lot of water before & during blooming, then they want desert-dry for the rest of the summer.

That’s so good to know! Thank you! We had such a dry summer - so much didn’t get enough water. But I’m thinking I didn’t give them enough water when we first moved here either. In my old garden they just thrived - no watering :)
