Monday and Tuesday I ran some errands and spotted some exciting spring flowers while at the regular and health-food grocery stores.

The sketches started off with some very undefined shape washes, then I worked back in with colored Sharpie and on the daffodils also added Pitt brush pens and colored pencil.

The daffodils opened so fast. Monday afternoon they were tight buds, and on Tuesday morning they were all fully open—and surprisingly fragrant.

I also did a quick sketch of a “Black Cherry” tomato cultivar. No prelim drawing, straight in with the brush and oxide of chromium watercolor. Kind of a variation on the blind contour drawing approach. Still not satisfied, or perhaps, at ease, with the 100-day project concept.
Will be going for a hike tomorrow, and plan to take a sketchbook. Since it’s a training hike for this season’s backpacking trips, I’m keeping my expectations low for getting any detailed, or relaxed, observational drawing done.
So, so beautiful!!! Wow!
